Switch on the television or check out the latest flick on the big screen, chances are you may stumble upon an old classic Bollywood number in its remixed modern avatar. For instance, the recently released Shaitan directed by Bejoy Nambiar, has the remixed versions of Khoya Khoya Chand (Mohd.Rafi) and Hawa Hawai (Mr.India).
Take tele commercials and you will find Chura Liya Hai Tumnay (Zen Estilo); Jahaan Teri Yeh Nazar Hai (TVS – Virat Kohli ); Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh (TVS Scooty); Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho (Coca Cola-Imran Khan); Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyaar (Raymond);
Every other brand these days are using songs from the black and white days (the new gen have hardly listened to these songs) in to sell their product/brand/movie and connect with the consumer, and interestingly the trend is getting the thumbs up from the audience.
Some pathetic numbers which Bollywood churn out these days, it’s a saving grace from advertisers and some music directors (special mention for Khoya Khoya Chand).
Old is definitely Gold! 🙂
